CL&P Offers Surge Protection

BERLIN – The Connecticut Light and Power Company (CL&P) is offering a new service for residential customers, the HomeGuard Surge Protection Service, which provides protection against damage caused by power surges to major household appliances and sensitive electronic equipment.

The CL&P system includes installation of a whole-house device on the homeowner’s electric meter and also five plug-in surge suppressor strips for sensitive electronic equipment such as stereos, computers, and televisions. The equipment has a manufacturer’s warranty that includes coverage for both major household appliances and electronic equipment connected through the plug-in strips.

The service is available to all CL&P residential customers for a one-time installation fee of $62 and a monthly fee of $4.95. All charges appear on the customer’s monthly electric bills. For more information, visit the CL&P website, www.cl-p.com and click on the “surge protection” link on the front page, or call 888-562-0067 to speak with a representative from CL&P’s product group.
