Tour Of Private Gardens

WATERBURY — In conjunction with its current exhibit, “Back to Nature: City Parks and Country Retreats,” The Mattatuck Museum will sponsor a Neighborhood Gardens Tour on Sunday, August 22, from 1 to 3 pm.

Select garden retreats from various Waterbury neighborhoods will be open to the public for this intimate tour.

Museum staff is interested in hearing about other special gardens that could be included in this tour. Homeowners who would like to be involved are invited to contact program director Christine Jewell at 203-753-0381, ext 11.

Fee for the tour is $5 per person. RSVP by calling 203-753-0381, extension 10. “Back to Nature: City Parks and Country Retreats,” which features some of Waterbury’s most celebrated parks, Quassy Amusement Park, Naugatuck State Forest and Topsmead, continues through September 5.

The Mattatuck Museum is at 144 West Main Street, Waterbury, with convenient parking behind the museum on Park Place.
