Blood Drive Planned

The American Red Cross will be in Newtown this weekend for a blood drive. On Saturday, August 7, the gathering hall of St Rose School, 40 Church Hill Road, will host the event from 8 am until 12:45 pm.

Those hoping to donate blood must be at least 18 years of age, weigh at least 110 pounds, and be in generally good health.

According to the American Red Cross, currently only three out of every 100 people in America donate blood.

Every minute of every day, someone needs blood. That blood can only come from a volunteer donor, a person who makes the choice to donate.

Walk-ins will be welcomed, but appointments are available. Call 800-RED-CROSS (800-448-3543) to make an appointment or for additional information. Details about donating blood are also available at RedCross.org/donate.
