Man Injured In Hit-And-Run Accident Amid Vandalism Incident

By Andrew Gorosko

Police said they are investigating a hit-and-run accident in which an adult male pedestrian was injured early on the morning of Tuesday, August 3.

Police said that at about 2:09 am, the man who lives at 16 Bridle Path Trail heard some vandalism occurring outside his residence and then went outdoors to check the area.

The perpetrators apparently were tampering with a decorative lighting fixture on the man’s property, police said.

In the course of events, that man was struck by a motor vehicle whose driver then drove away from the scene, police said.

The man’s injuries include abrasions to his head, arms, knees, right hand, and left hip, plus lacerations to his feet, police said.

Police did not identify the man in a statement on the incident. Police incident logs list the man who lives at that address as Jeffrey Engler.

Ambulance volunteers transported the injured man to Danbury Hospital for treatment. Mr Engler was treated at the emergency room and released, a hospital spokeswoman said.

About six police responded to Bridle Path Trail to investigate the hit-and-run accident. Bridle Path Trail is a dead end street extending from Orchard Hill Road.

If police develop sufficient criminal evidence in the case, they would seek warrants through which arrests would be made.
