Architectural Fees For Head O'Meadow Project Approved

The Legislative Council Wednesday approved a $38,000 special appropriation to

fund architectural fees for the renovation of the Head O' Meadow School

kindergarten room.

Architect Jim Lawler will be paid a total of $70,000 for his work. Some of the

money will be covered money already encumbered by the Board of Education.

School officials have been pushing for this project for several years. The

existing classroom, originally designed for an open-school format, is no

longer appropriate for the needs of today's students, according to Amy Dent,

school board chair. The classroom also needs several updates to bring it up to

fire code compliance.
