with cut: Driver Dies In Route 34 Crash

A 27-year-old man died in a one-truck accident on Route 34 late on the night

of November 22, police report.

Police said motorist Arthur Kaladish of Huntington, and formerly of Woodbury,

was driving a pickup truck eastbound on Route 34 at an apparent high speed

when the truck went off the eastbound road shoulder and knocked down several

guardposts before strking a tree approximately 250 feet east of Sherman

Street.

The pickup truck was completely demolished by the impact, and a snowmobile

that was in the back of the truck was thrown 50 feet into the woods.

Members of the Sandy Hook Volunteer Fire and Rescue Company extricated Mr

Kaladish from the wreckage. The Newtown Volunteer Ambulance Corps transported

Mr Kaladish to Danbury Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
