TJ McKenzie Picks Providence

Former Newtown resident, TJ McKenzie, a senior at St Joseph's High School of

Trumbull, verbally committed, last week, to play basketball for Providence

College next season.

McKenzie was recruited by Division I schools across the country and narrowed

his choices down to Providence and Purdue before finally deciding to become a

Friar and play in the BIG EAST Conference.

The 6-foot-10 1 / 2 center averaged 15 points, 13 rebounds, and 5.1 blocked

shots per game last season in helping lead St Joe's to a state title.

TJ, who played at Newtown Middle School before transfering to St Joe's, plans

to sign his National Letter of Intent on November 13.
