Cascella Will Help Cut The Library Ribbon
Former first selectman Bob Cascella is expected to be present at Saturday's
grand reopening of the Cyrenius H. Booth Library.
"He was there during 98 percent of the job. Bob was very positive about the
project," said Library Director Janet Woycik. "He's going to the gala on
Saturday and will help cut the ribbon on Sunday."
Mr Cascella will join six other scissors-wielders during the much-anticipated
ribbon-cutting ceremony. The other snippers include Public Building & Site
Committee Chairman Frank Krasnickas, First Selectman Herb Rosenthal, Mrs
Woycik and library trustees Bill Lavery, Gordon Williams and Kathy Geckle.
Keith Crumb, the project's original general contractor from Building
Technologies, Inc (BTI) of Prospect was originally invited to attend the gala,
but reportedly never responded to the invitation. Town officials fired BTI in
November for failing to finish the job in a timely fashion due to a lack of
manpower.
The $4.1 million addition and renovation was originally scheduled to be
completed last June.
