A holiday shopping "mini-mall" featuring merchandise from about 20 local
businesses will be held from 8 am to 4 pm on Saturday, December 14, at Newtown
Health & Fitness Club, 23 Commerce Road.
Admission is free.
Shoppers will be able to buy merchandise ranging from personal care products
to crafts, art materials, floral arrangements and live greens, toys,
children's books, jewelry, sporting goods, and collectibles. The Friends of
the Cyrenius H. Booth Library will be selling new and slightly used books on
health, fitness and nutrition as well as recent fiction and mysteries, the
Sarah Booth Cookbook, Newtown Trails III and the new Entertainment 97 book.
In addition to merchandise, the businesses participating in Saturday's
mini-mall will donate raffle prizes. Money raised from the raffles, along with
fees the businesses paid to participate, will be donated to the library.
Dan Gaita, fitness director at the club, organized the event, which will take
place on the club's basketball court.
The club is one of 36 businesses and organizations that are helping the
Cyrenius H. Booth in its "10 Weeks to $10,000" fund-raising campaign to
finance the purchase of a new circulation desk, computer equipment and other
items for the children's department.
