William Engel At Studio Gallery 88

NEW YORK CITY -- An installation of paintings by William Engel will be shown

at Studio Gallery 88, an alternative space on the Upper West Side, to November

15.

The gallery is open Friday, Saturday and Sunday, 1-5 pm. For information,

The exhibition highlights Engel's depictions of landscapes and flowers in oil

and mixed media. The oil landscapes are representative of Engel's work

observing the light, water and color of the desert regions in Southern

California. The flowers, a subject the artist has visited throughout his

career, are drawn in layers of mixed media.

Engel lives and works in New York City. He has taught mixed media, drawing,

and visual concepts at the New York School of Interior Design since 1980. He

studied at the Open Atelier of Design and Architecture, and The New York

School of Interior Design, where he was awarded a Design Diploma with

Distinction in 1979. In 1983 he was a visiting critic at the School of

Architecture at CUNY.
