Subdivision Plans Withdrawn

The applicants for a residential subdivision on property near I-84 in Sandy

Hook have withdrawn their proposal from Planning and Zoning Commission (P&Z)

consideration.

On August 17, developers Robert Mathison and Emory Palmer withdrew their

application for Watch Hill, a 16-lot subdivision proposal for 32 acres at Pole

Bridge Road, Bancroft Road, and Alpine Drive.

The development proposal drew heavy opposition from area residents at a public

hearing earlier this year.

Residents raised questions about the practicality of building that many houses

on that site, noting that the area already has a high population density. Many

area residents said they feared that building a subdivision there would cause

drainage problems on their nearby properties.
