Library CO Possible Next Week
Will the Cyrenius Booth Library finally get its much-anticipated certificate
of occupancy (CO) next week?
"If they're lucky," said Public Building & Site Committee Chairman Frank
Krasnickas Thursday morning.
Building inspector Al Brinley toured the nearly-completed library project
Wednesday and reportedly found several small items (punch lists) that needed
to be completed before he could issue a CO. Mr Brinley was unavailable for
comment Thursday morning.
Tuesday night, general contractor Keith Crumb of Building Technologies, Inc,
was asked when the job would be ready for CO approval.
"I wish I could answer that. We're close, we're very close," he told the
building committee.
Among the items Mr Brinley said needed to be done were paint touch-ups, carpet
repairs, and exterior emergency lighting.
Furniture installation at the library is near completion.
Once the CO is issued, library director Janet Woycik and her staff will need
about four weeks of preparation before the library can be open to the public.
A grand re-opening is scheduled for early November, about five months overdue.
