Yale Parker
Yale C. Parker, 86, formerly of Sandy Hook, died June 22, at the Bentley
Gardens Convalescent Home in West Haven. A resident of Shelton, he was the
husband of the late Amelia Sautner Parker.
Born in Gramercy Park, New York, N.Y., May 10, 1909, he was a son of Herbert
and Birdie Wilson Pokress. A resident of Shelton for ten years, Mr Parker had
lived in Sandy Hook for 32 years.
He was the former owner of West Shore Motors in Milford, an auto dealership he
ran for 35 years.
He was a former member and past president of the Devon Lions Club.
Survivors include three daughters, Gail Schwietzer of Southbury, and June
Doline and Bette Billett, both of Philadelphia; a sister, Annabelle Rosenthal
of Newtown; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Graveside services were held June 24 at the Newtown Village Cemetery.
Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown, was in charge of arrangements.
John Dougherty
John H. Dougherty, 79, a retired attorney for the Department of Justice, died
June 25, at the home of his daughter, Katharine Dougherty of Beaver Dam Road,
Newtown, with whom he had lived for the past four years. Formerly of Falls
Church, Va., he was the husband of the late Katherine Dobnak Dougherty.
He was born in Chicago, Ill., August 10, 1915, a son of Howard and Anna Long
Dougherty. He attended Gonzaga Prep School in Washington, D.C., and received
his law degree from the Columbus School of Law in Washington, D.C.
A US Army veteran of WWII, he was a retired trial attorney with the antitrust
division of the Department of Justice. Mr Dougherty was a member of the
Newtown Senior Center.
Besides his daughter, he is survived by another daughter, Leslie A. Schutz of
Jerusalem, Israel; three brothers, C. William Dougherty of Santa Fe, N.M.,
Frank R. Dougherty of Philadelphia, Pa., and Edward J. Dougherty of Concord,
N.C.; and three grandchildren, Deirdre Mayer Dougherty and Gregory Dougherty
Mayer, both of Newtown, and David Jonathan Schutz of Jerusalem, Israel.

Arrangements are by the Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown.
There are no calling hours. A memorial service will take place at a later
date.
Grace Jones
Grace Howe Jones, 60, mother of Timothy J. Moulton of Newtown, died June 24,
at Danbury Hospital. She was the wife of Gordon P. Jones of Bethel.
She was born in Darien June 30, 1934, a daughter of Frederick P. and Helen
Dakin Howe. She was a resident of Bethel since 1973.
Mrs Jones worked as a nurse's aide with the Danbury Nurses Registry.
She is also survived by two daughters, Helen M. Telesco of Norwalk, and Joni
L. Virgilio of Waterbury; another son, Robert J. Moulton of Groton; three
sisters, Dorothy H. Detmer of Lebanon, Alice H. Bilodeau of Calhan, Colo., and
Helen H. Poole of Bethel; a brother, Elvin B. Howe of Beverly Hills, Fla.;
five grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Contributions in her memory may be made to the charity of one's choice.
Bethel Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Services were held June 27 at the Newtown Congregational Church with the
Reverend Steven P. Gordon officiating. Burial took place in Elmwood Cemetery,
Bethel.
Arthur Link
Arthur John Link, 64, brother of William Vollmer of Newtown, died June 24, at
Rosary Hill Home in Hawthorne, N.Y. He was the husband of Virginia Buswell
Link of Brewster, N.Y.
He was born in New York City, December 25, 1930, a son of George Link and
Louise Link Vollmer. Mr Link was a graduate of Food Trades Vocational High
School in New York City.
A US Army veteran, he served from 1951 to 1953 during the Korean Conflict.
Before his retirement in 1993, Mr Link had been employed for 43 years as a
meat manager by the A&P Company of Goldens Bridge, N.Y.
He was a life member and past president of the Brewster Fire Department. He
also was a member of the Putnam County Fireman's Association. He was a charter
member of the Royal Order of the Blue Vests, a New York state organization.
He is also survived by a son, Arthur C. Link of Southlake, Texas; a daughter,
Susan E. Berrios of Manassas, Va.; two sisters, Louise Wietzke of Rehoboth
Beach, Del., and Frances Rockefeller of Ancramdale, N.Y.; five grandchildren;
and several nieces and nephews.

The Beecher Funeral Home, Brewster, N.Y., was in charge of arrangements.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held June 27, at St Lawrence O'Toole Church,
Brewster. Burial took place in Ferncliff Cemetery, Hartsdale, N.Y.
Edwin Bowles
Edwin M. Bowles, 23, of Gainesville, Fla., grandson of Dorothy Bresson of
Sandy Hook and Florence Bowles, also of Sandy Hook, died June 13, as a result
of head injuries sustained in an automobile accident in Orlando, Fla. Mr
Bowles was a son of Edwin Bowles of St Augustine, Fla., and Joan Bresson of
Fairfax, Va.
He was a May graduate of the University of Florida, where he received a degree
in mechanical engineering, and had just accepted a job with Entergy in
Mississippi.
He was a member of Pi Tau Sigma, an honorary mechanical engineering
fraternity, and vice president of The American Society of Mechanical
Engineers.
Besides his parents and grandmothers, he is survived by two sisters, Mary and
Ann Bowles of Fairfax.
Graveside services were held June 17, at San Lorenzo Cemetery, St Augustine,
with Reverend Tim Lindenfelser, associate pastor of the Cathedral-Basilica of
St Augustine, officiating.
Ronald Morgan
Ronald J. Morgan, 63, brother of Harold Morgan of Sandy Hook, died June 23, at
his home in New Fairfield. He was the husband of Nancy Ameo Morgan.
Mr Morgan was born in Bridgeport on June 30, 1931, a son of Hiram and Helen
Qubick Morgan. He attended Newtown schools and graduated from Bullard Haven
High School in Bridgeport.
A veteran of the Korean War, he served with the US Army in Germany.
Mr Morgan had been employed for more than 30 years by Danbury Printing and
Litho as a sheet-feed supervisor.
He had lived in New Fairfield since 1956, and was a past member of the New
Fairfield Booster Club, New Fairfield Volunteer Fire Department, Newtown SAC
Boys Club, and Grassy Plain Drum Corps. Mr Morgan was a member of St Edward
the Confessor Church in New Fairfield.
He is also survived by two sons, Steven Morgan of Sacramento, Calif., and Todd
Morgan of Mentor, Ohio; two daughters, Susan Durkin of Woodbury, and Renee
Mathai of Charlotte, N.C.; two sisters, Dorothy Trudeau of Sandy Hook, and
Beatrice Behrman of Newtown; eight grandchildren; and several nephews.

Services were held June 26, from the Green Funeral Home in Danbury to St
Edward the Confessor Church in New Fairfield for a Mass of Christian Burial.
Burial followed in Newtown Village Cemetery.
