ON THE ROAD/SHANNON HICKS

Sunday night's show by THE KNACK planned at Tuxedo Junction in Danbury has

been canceled. New on the club's calendar, however, is a solo show by former

DURAN DURAN guitarist JOHN TAYLOR, on October 26.

A few tickets actually remain for the BILLY JOEL concert in Hartford. The show

was originally to be next week, on the 9th, but the singer's throat problems

have created the need for two more months' of scheduled dates to be bumped.

Joel will now be playing his fourth Connecticut show this year on Wednesday,

December 9. Tickets purchased with the September date will be honored in

December.

Tickets for the show are available through any TicketMaster outlet. Charge by

calling 624-0033 or 860/525-4500.

CANDLEBOX is back on the road for a nine-week trek to support its third

release, called Happy Pills . The band will be at the Webster Theatre in

Hartford on September 21. The Seattle-based quartet is on the road now for the

first time in three years, and is touring with more energy than ever,

according to a press release from record company Maverick. A large part of

this energy is the band's new member, drummer Dave Kruson, who worked on Pearl

Jam's album Ten before hooking up with Candlebox last year.

No word yet on whether there will be an opener at the Webster.

Also coming into the Hartford club will be FEAR FACTORY, opening the SLAYER

show next week on Tuesday the 8th. Kilgore also has an opening set to perform.

Fear Factory has been on the road since August 1, supporting its July release

Obsolete . With ten songs, the album tells the story of Man versus Machine in

the "dark, volatile world of Man's own creation," says frontman/lyricist

Burton C. Bell. The band's guitarist and songwriter, Dino Cazares, has always

been a big fan of science-fiction movies. Apparently the band went into

creative mode for the new album trying to answer the question "What would it

sound like if we created the soundtrack to Terminator ?"

Doors for the September 8 show open at 7:30 pm. Tickets are $22.

BARENAKED LADIES returns to Connecticut for the third time this year, this

time for a concert at the Oakdale in Wallingford on October 10.

FUEL is now opening the rescheduled AEROSMITH concert at the Meadows Music

Theatre in Hartford, happening now on October 11. It will be Fuel's second

appearance in less than two weeks at the amphitheatre, as the band is featured

in the lastest radio 104-sponsored Big Day Off concert. The Hartford radio

station is promising another "20 bands for 20 bucks." The October 3 concert

will feature, among others, CRACKER, DISHWALLA, BETTER THAN EZRA, THE AMAZING

ROYAL CROWNS, MARCY PLAYGROUND, GOD LIVES UNDERWATER, STABBING WESTWARD,

ANTHENEUM, and SHAWN MULLINS.

Until next week, I'll be seeing you... on the road.
