ON THE ROAD/SHANNON HICKS

Fresh off a date at The Meadows, THE ALLMAN BROTHERS BAND has already

announced a pair of return dates to Connecticut next month. The band will be

at the Oakdale in Wallingford on Tuesday and Wednesday, August 24-25, with

tickets for both of these shows going on sale this weekend. Showtime is 7 pm

both evenings, and all tickets are $28.

Also new at the Oakdale next month is a Friday the 13th show with EVERCLEAR

and ROOTS. Tickets for this show are also on sale Saturday morning, for

$28.50. Showtime is 7;30.

There are three different performers lined up for performances on the Levi's

First Stage at The Meadows during the three-night stint by THE DAVE MATTHEWS

BAND in Hartford next month. First Stage performers are as follows: August 6,

STEPHAN SMITH; August 7, DEVON; and August 8, HOGWALLER RAMBLERS.

Evidently there are still tickets available for the August 8 show, at $32 and

$43. I'd call pretty quickly if I were you, though, if you have any hope to

grab any of the final few seats still open.

The Village Cafe in Gaylordsville sent in an updated schedule for the next few

weeks recently. CRAZY BOBS, a group from Mississippi, will headline on July

13. Also performing next Tuesday night will be BILLY'S BORK and WOMEN ON

HEROIN. July 16 will feature JYST and ROCK.

On Monday, July 19, San Francisco band DEAD END CRUISERS will be at the cafe,

along with THE TRADITIONALS, a punk band out of Pittsburgh, and a return

performance by BILLY'S BORK. THE MULLIGANS will be playing their "moderne

roque" on July 24.

In August, CLEAR FICTION will be playing its progressive rock on the 6th, and

punk returns with POXY, a Seattle band, on August 12.

The entertainment line-up for The Big E in West Springfield, Mass. (this year

September 17-October 3) is beginning to trickle out of organizers'

headquarters and among those that caught my eye this week is a listing for BIG

BAD VOODOO DADDY. The eight-man little Big Band will be performing on the

fair's Mohegan Sun Stage on Saturday, October 2, at 8 pm. The band is among

the performers included in the free entertainment roster this year (the

entertainment is included with the ticket/gate fee).

Finally this week, more concerts at Laszlo's Arts Cafe have been announced.

Coming up this month are shows including BELLIGERENCE, July 22; PAUL FRIEND

and ED BANG, performing separate early sets before the cafe sets up an open

mic at 10 pm, on July 23; local bands KRAZED SENSATION, BAKWASH and

MALPRACTICE on July 24; and local bands NEVERLESS and POINT OF VIEW, July 26.

Until next week, I'll be seeing you... on the road, crutches in hand.
