ON THE ROAD/SHANNON HICKS
The next WPKN-sponsored concert coming to Newtown will be by the always
wonderful story-telling singer GREG BROWN. (Can you tell I'm a fan?) Brown,
with his stories and guitar in tow, will be at the Edmond Town Hall
auditorium, 45 Main Street in Newtown, on Thursday, November 12. The concert
will begin at 8 pm.
If you want to take your chance, tickets will be available at the door.
However, considering the popularity of this performer, it might not be a bad
idea to head to Grand Union's Customer Service desk -- the store is on Queen
Street and Church Hill Road in Newtown -- and buy your $15 tickets in advance.
Tickets are on sale, finally, this Saturday (Oct 10) for PHISH at the New
Haven Coliseum. The show marks a move by the band from its traditional
November show at the Hartford Civic Center to a smaller venue that's been very
quiet this year.
On the same night, across town, the band's lyricist, DUDE OF LIFE, will be
performing at Toad's Place. Either for those who want to continue the sounds
of the Phish show that will be concluded earlier at the coliseum than the club
show will end, or for those who were unable to get tickets for the Phish show
but want a taste of some similar sounds.
AIDS Project Greater Danbury is sponsoring its 9th annual Walk For Life next
Sunday at the CityCenter Green in Danbury next Sunday (Oct 18). The
10-kilometer walk (or its shorter, 1.5-mile version for weaklings like me...)
is a fundraiser for the support organization for people living with AIDS/HIV
and their families in the greater Danbury region. The reason for the mention
of the event here is that in addition to the walk itself, organizers are
planning events on the green that will include a broadcast by radio station
98Q as well as live performances by the Danbury band FUTURE TENSE.
Registration begins at 8:30 am, and the walk will start at 9:30. For
additional information, contact APGD at 778-2437.
Until next week, I'll be seeing you... on the road.
