ON THE ROAD FOR OCTOBER 10, 1997

The revival of glam rock and big hair bands of the Eighties continues with an

area show next month by RATT. The band has a November 16 show scheduled at

Tuxedo Junction in Danbury. You know what's funny is the other night I was

station surfing (as opposed to channel surfing, which is what you do with the

television) while driving home and actually came across a radio station that

was playing "You're In Love." Is that karma, irony or just a coincidence, do

you suppose?

Also coming to Tuxedo Junction is SAVATAGE, and this is just around the

corner. The band will be at the Danbury club next Thursday (Oct 16). The band,

whose career as a wholee spans 11 albums and too many live performances to

count, is touring these days to support Dead Winter Dead . The album is

actually a series of related stories, chronicling the tale of three

individuals "lost in the labyrinth of the war in Bosnia," says the band's PR.

Tickets for this show are $10 in advance, $12 at the door, which will be

opening at 8 pm.

Going on sale this Friday (Oct 10) morning are tickets for LIVE's return to

Connecticut. The band had kicked off its North American tour for Secret

Samadhi at the end of July, performed at The Meadows in Hartford on August 1,

and continued for another eight weeks of solid playing (53 cities in ten

weeks).

Now Live is returning to Connecticut, this time to perform at the New Haven

Coliseum on Friday, November 14. All seats are $22.50 (through the Coliseum

box office or TicketMaster). Showtime is 8 pm, and Reef.

In interviews this summer (including the one she gave before the beginning of

the fair's presentation in Hartford), Lilith Fair organizer/brainsmith SARAH

McLACHLAN had said she was considering inviting men to future Lilith Fairs.

The Lilith Fair, in case you managed to sleep through the summer, was a

touring festival with female headliners, ranging from Ms McLachlan, JEWEL,

FIONA APPLE, TRACY CHAPMAN, MEREDITH BROOKS, TRACY BONHAM and JOAN OSBORNE,

among the 61 rotating musicians/bands that participated on this year's hugely

successful tour. The fair was named after Adam's first wife, it sold lots of

tickets everywhere it went during its two-month trek across the US and Canada,

it was in Hartford at the end of July, yada yada yada...

McLachlan, as I said, had mentioned getting some men onto the bill (men who

were headliners; there were men in some of the performers' bands, yes, but

that wasn't what she meant), which drew mixed reactions. Personally, I felt it

would have taken away from the idea behind Lilith: mainly, enjoying the hugely

underappreciated world of music that is out there of music by female

musicians.

Exercising her truly feminine right to change her mind, McLaghlan has now

announced next year's tour (and hopefully any subsequent ones) will remain all

female in focus. Until next week, I'll be seeing you... on the road.
