ON THE ROAD/SHANNON HICKS 12/12/97

JIM ALLEN opens a show for singer-songwriter Martin Simpson tonight (Dec 12)

at The Towne Crier, Pawling, NY. Allen, a Newtown resident, will be

accompanied by Terence Martin. Showtime is 9 pm, tickets are $15; call the

Crier at 914/855-1300. Allen is playing these days to support his recently

released album, One More Mile . Copies will be available at the show.

Also going on tonight, The Fireside Inn in Newtown will be showing the Direct

TV‘ broadcast of The Rolling Stones' "Bridges To Babylon Tour" on its big

screen TV. The show starts at 10 pm.

On Saturday (Dec 13), tickets will be put on sale for an AEROSMITH concert at

the New Haven Coliseum, January 17. It is the first concert to be played in

months at the facility, and will be the first of the new year. Tickets are a

bit on the pricey side, at $30 and $45 each, but if you caught the band's

performance on the "Billboard Awards" show Monday night, you know the guys are

still sounding pretty terrific.

Tickets are available through TicketMaster outlets (charge by calling 624-0033

or 525-4500), or directly through the Coliseum box office. No opener has been

listed for the January concert; showtime is 8 pm.

Next Tuesday (Dec 16), radio station I-95 will present its Christmas party at

Tuxedo Junction in Danbury. The evening will of course include a live

performance, this year by FROGWINGS, a band that features three members of the

ALLMAN BROTHERS and EDWIN McCAIN's band.

The club will be closed Wednesday, December 24, which is Christmas Eve and

Hanukkah, but will be opening Christmas night for everyone who wants to get

out and dance off some of those Christmas dinner or Hanukkah potato latke

pounds. No live music is scheduled, but the club will have a DJ all night.

For New Year's Eve, Tuxedo Junction will be presenting THE ZOO and SOUNDSCAPE.

Tickets went on sale last Saturday morning for a MEGADETH show at The Webster

Theatre in Hartford. The concert will be Monday, January 19. Opening will be

Life of Agony and Cool Chamber. The tickets are $22 and can be purchased

through your local Pro-Tix outlet, or charged by calling 860/422-0000.

MAX CREEK will ring in the New Year from the Hartford club, performing a New

Year's Eve show. Those tickets are $12 in advance, or $15 at the door.

Additional news from The Webster: a MACHINE/SHAKEDOWN show and one by .38

SPECIAL have both been postponed "until further notice."

PAULA COLE had to cancel two shows last week, including one at Toad's Place.

Illness was the culprit. The New Haven show, along with one that was scheduled

for Mount Holyoke College in Massachusetts a few nights after the Toad's show

was to have been played, will be rescheduled for February.

Until next week, I'll be seeing you... on the road.
