To the Editor:

Cathy Reiss wrote to the editor, The Newtown Bee, July 31 edition, in firm support and belief in her oath as an elected member of the Legislative Council to uphold the Federal and State Constitutions.

Black Lives Matter, originally a slogan, then a rally cry as more people began to show support for the premise, audibly, physically, and financially. An organization, “a movement,” apparently grew out of all that support. Sometime along that line of organization, other affiliations began to develop within it and from without, some with different goals and purposes, some trustworthy, some not. Some reported to have ulterior ambitions outside of the original intent to simply make “Black Lives Matter” a serious permanent element in everyone’s consciousness.

I believe Cathy was writing to give relevance, importance to those reports, still being validated with additional concrete information and investigation on-going. I think she wants us to pay attention; I think she is right. Thank you, Cathy.
