The next Hearts of Hope (HOH)-Newtown painting party has been scheduled for Wednesday, August 18, from 6 to 9 pm. It will be an outdoor event at NewSylum Brewing Company, 36 Keating Farms Avenue.

Participants that evening will continue painting hearts for local teachers. For the past few months, the local chapter has been asking the public to paint palm-sized ceramic hearts with positive messages and simple images for local teachers. The group hopes to have enough of the unique hearts to present one to each Newtown educator on or around the opening of the 2021-22 academic year.

Registration is requested and can be done by e-mail to newtown@ourheartsofhope.com or via the group’s Facebook page. Cost is $10 per heart to be painted; reservations help organizers plan for enough supplies.

HOH founder Judy Pederson will speak about HOH and its mission.

HOH board member Diane Sarna told The Newtown Bee last month that the local chapter will begin hosting its painting events indoors again in September. It plans to have monthly events at Newtown Community Center, she said.

Hearts of Hope of Newtown’s next Paint With A Purpose event will continue creating hearts with positive messages for local teachers.
