A Quick Response Kept Patrons Safe

To the Editor:

I would like the community to know that the C.H. Booth Library is very appreciative of the Town of Newtown’s Public Works Department for their quick response in keeping library patrons safe.

The library had a huge branch tear off a late-stage maple tree right in front of the library during Storm Isaias. The remaining part of the tree was not solid and presented a hazardous situation. If the remaining part of the tree had fallen, there may have been injuries to patrons who were on the library patio using the library’s Wi-Fi signal.

Thanks to the speedy efforts of Public Works, the library was able to resume its offering of Wi-Fi and device charging to patrons in a safe space. This literally helped hundreds of Newtown business people and students who rely on these services to work, study, and keep in touch with loved ones during this challenging time.

Thank you, Public Works!
