“Beloved husband, father, and brother”

Mr Michael W. Babasick, Sr, 61, of Arrington, Tenn., formerly of Newtown, passed away on Saturday, August 1, in Franklin, Tenn. Michael was born in Bridgeport on January 31, 1959, to the late Andrew and Rosanna (Rizzo) Babasick.

He attended Newtown High School, where he was known for all his crazy antics. After graduation, he went on to work at Dual Lite for many years, where he met the love of his life, Jane, in 1980. He spent many years volunteering at Botsford Fire and Rescue and Newtown Ambulance Corps, where he met many lifelong friends. He went on to work for Sentinel Lighting in 1995 until 2003. He always did what was best for his family and this took them to many places around the country, including Idaho, California, and finally Tennessee, where he and his friend and business partner, Louie Salamone, started Power and Communication Systems.

Michael’s family was the light of his life. You could find Dad watching hours of Law and Order (which he passed on to his daughter), mowing the lawn in his “holey” Sunday shirt, yelling at everyone to “Get in the pool!”, watching countless NASCAR races with his son, and sending thousands of snaps and pokes to his daughter. His sense of humor cannot be matched. With his numerous Snapchats, puns, and dad jokes, he always had a quick comeback and a smile on his face that will be missed by many.

Michael leaves behind his wife of 37 years, Jane; daughter, Meghan Pilloise (“Babasick/Babapilloisick” as he would say), and her husband, Shayne, of Naugatuck; son, Michael Babasick, Jr, of Nashville, Tenn; brother, Richard Babasick, and wife, Deb, of Arizona; brother, Kenneth Babasick, and wife, Teresa, of Oakville; sister, Elizabeth Caswell, of Watertown; his best friend, Ray Schettino, of Newtown; and many nieces and nephews who he loved very much.

Michael was predeceased by his brother Steven Babasick and sister Patricia Partington.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated, Wednesday, August 19, at 11 am, at St Rose of Lima Church, 46 Church Hill Road, Newtown. Please meet directly at the church. All family and friends are welcome to attend. Interment will be held immediately after the ceremony at Resurrection Cemetery in Newtown.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Botsford Fire and Rescue 315 South Main Street, Newtown CT 06470, or to Newtown Volunteer Ambulance Association Inc, PO Box 344 Newtown CT 06470.
