Raymond Anson Gold, Jr, born October 16, 1933, in Albert Lea, Minnesota, went to heaven on June 16 in Daytona Beach, Florida.

Ray “Dad” moved his family from Minnesota in the early ’60s to Newtown with his wife, Lois (Bussman), and his three sons, Stephen, Peter, and Michael. Always the entrepreneur, he started the Connecticut Stamp and Coin Company dealing with rare numismatics and philately.

Later, he earned his real estate and insurance licenses and formed the Ray Gold Real Estate and Insurance Agency.

From there, Ray went into the bar business in Daytona Beach and formed Froggy’s Saloon and later built the world-famous One-Eyed Jack’s Saloon in Sturgis, South Dakota. Ray made 39 consecutive rallys in Sturgis, a rare feat by any imagination.

Ray was loved by many, and his friends said he was their favorite!

Ray is predeceased by his parents, Ray Gold, Sr, and Anna-Marie (Anderson) Gold; and a son, Phillip.

Ray “Dad” is survived by his three sons, Stephen and his wife, Patti, of Cave Creek, Ariz., and their three children Bryan, Kristen, and Tyler, and two great-grandchildren, Abbey and Jack; Peter and his wife, Noi, of Phuket, Thailand, and their two sons, Peter, Jr, and Nicholas, daughter Nat, and her partner, Vince, and two great-grandchildren, Vince, Jr, and Natalia; and Michael and his wife, Kathleen, of New Milford and their two sons, Austin and Ayden.

A lay to rest service took place in Albert Lea, Minn., June 24, at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens.

Ray “Dad” will be greatly missed.
