Two Men Arrested On Larceny, Forgery, And Bad Check Charges

Newtown police arrested two men on August 14 after being called to the Sand Hill Plaza branch of Newtown Savings Bank.

The men, Quantae Jaquan Nixon, 28, of Brooklyn, N.Y. and Norfolk, Va., and Desmond Lindo, 26, of Bronx, N.Y., were each arrested on three charges. Lindo was charged with Criminal Liability/Larceny in the 1st, Forgery-3rd, and Issuing a Bad Check Over $2,000. Nixon was charged with Conspiracy To Commit Larceny in the 1st, Forgery-3rd, and Issuing A Bad Check Over $2,000.

Police were called around 3 pm on Friday by a bank employee who reported that Nixon was attempting to cash a stolen check in the amount of $20,549.80.

The caller also informed police that a second person was waiting for Nixon in a car in the parking lot.

After police officers arrived and following an investigation, the two men were placed into custody and transported back to Newtown Police Department for processing. Both were held on $50,000 bonds. Their cases have been assigned to Danbury Superior Court.

Additionally, it was learned that both parties attempted to cash a stolen check at the Shelton branch of Newtown Savings Bank before employees became suspicious and the pair left.

The duo had previously cashed a $17,900 check at the Trumbull branch of Newtown Savings Bank, also according to the police report.
