Newtown Choral Society, under the direction of Mary Andreotta, and accompanied by Susan Anthony-Klein, begins rehearsals for its holiday concert Wednesday, September 11, and is inviting prospective members to attend. There are openings in all voices.

Rehearsals are Wednesdays at Newtown Middle School, 11 Queen Street, beginning at 7 pm.

Ms Andreotta has announced that the program for the choral society’s winter concert will feature Matthew Harris’s choral interpretation of Dylan Thomas’s A Child’s Christmas in Wales.

“This will be the second time we are performing the piece, and it has been requested many times since then,” Ms Andreotta said. “We’ll add other songs of the season.”

The concert is set for December 8 at Newtown Meeting House.

Newtown Choral Society does not require an audition. It welcomes everyone who loves singing and has a desire to learn.

Now entering its 32nd year, the Newtown Choral Society is a community chorus and welcomes singers from all area towns. The choir performs two concerts a year and welcomes both novice and experienced singers. The choir is supported through dues, ticket sales, and program ads.

For more information on membership, contact the Newtown Choral Society President Laura E. Lerman at 203-426-3769 or lel@se-ltd.com.
