Budget Crunch Hits Home
Budget Crunch Hits Home
To the Editor:
The budget âcrunchâ has hit this 61-year-old â no not because of grandchildren â more like this: We citizens defeated the budget a number of times this year. Our powers that be in town hall did their jobs and cut the so-called fat out of the budget and we were happy about it. (I voted the budget down three times.)
Well guess what fellow citizens â are you aware that for the first half of this year the library has not, repeat, has not, bought any new books? Why you ask? Budget cuts.
Okay, now we know. Wonder what else we donât know until it comes out in the wash? Funny how that line we wonder about that has a dollar amount beside it really never means anything â but when it hits home we know.
Ah ainât it fun â first hundred years are the hardest, ainât they Mildred.
