Newtown Arts Festival Event: Photographer To Speak About 9/11 Images, September 7 At Library

Newtown native Richmond Jones will be presenting a talk, "Lost: The Photos of 9/11," about his experiences as a Manhattan based photographer on 9/11 and its aftermath, on Wednesday, September 7, at C.H. Booth Library, 25 Main Street. The program will begin at 7 pm.The News-Times.The New York Times as a stringer in Montreal, while he was also working as a full-time staff photographer for The Montreal Gazette.The New York Times. He was the first photographer to have his pictures on that page.The Newtown Bee this week, will be "random samples." He expects to hang 40 photographs early next week.

The event is part of the month long Newtown Arts festival sponsored by Newtown Cultural Arts Commission.

His talk at the library will include photographs of "missing posters," which were created by loved ones and posted in lower Manhattan following the tragedy.

"I wanted to get past the statistics of the event," the photographer said, "and concentrate on the people who were lost."

A short video about the posters will be accompanied by the work of renowned cellist Mary Costanza.

Newtown Municipal Center is at 3 Primrose Street, within the Fairfield HThe collection can be viewed weekdays between 8 am and 5 pm. The exhibition will also be accessible for visits during the weekend-long Newtown Arts Festival, September 17-18.
