Now Offers Door To Door Restaurant Delivery

Whether you have a hankering for pork tornadoes from One Eyed Pig BBQ, a garlic-laden white clam pie from My Place, a shrimp chimichanga from Panchos and Gringos, or a spicy dish of Balti Murgh from Kolam Indian Restaurant — or even a little sample of each — it is just one phone call away to dining Nirvana.

Vroom Service Now provides delivery service to Newtown, Sandy Hook, Danbury, Brookfield, Bethel, and New Fairfield residents from a growing list of more than two dozen popular food service establishments in and around northern Fairfield County. Local restaurants partnered with Vroom Service Now include Hot Shots, One Eyed Pig, Kolam, My Place, Tambascio’s, Inn at Newtown, Mona Lisa, Sal e Pepe, and Villarina’s Pasta Shop.

While Vroom partner Scott Leandra had worked the “other side of the counter” as a server and bartender since he was in his teens, the Newtown resident found that aside from a handful of eateries that provided spotty delivery service, the only way folks were able to connect to most local establishments was by driving there themselves.

“It occurred to me a while back that services in general were lacking in the area,” said Mr Leandra. “I had lived in other parts of the country where services of all types were available to both serve and spoil the public.”

Mr Leandra believes many people in town are either too busy, have businesses to run, or are too tied up with family commitments, so they often find there is just not enough time to do simple things like cook and serve a quality meal every night. 

“There are also some residents that have limited ability to leave their homes, especially in the evenings, and sometimes need the service for that,” he added.

Vroom Service Now gives customers a variety of menu choices and the convenience of prompt home delivery.

A delivery driver is dispatched to the restaurant of your choice, places your meal in an insulated thermal carrier, and delivers it directly to you at your home, office, or hotel room. Orders can be placed 24 hours a day, for evening delivery. Vroom delivers seven nights a week until 9 pm, with an extra hour on Friday nights, until 10 pm. The company is also growing the business to include lunchtime delivery to certain office parks and office buildings, such as Commerce Park in Newtown, Danbury Hospital, and many more. This new service allows restaurants like Katherine’s Kitchen the opportunity to grow their businesses, as well.

There is a $17 food minimum and a delivery charge of $3.75.

A gratuity for the delivery driver is customary, just as in a restaurant — drivers use their own vehicles and pay for their own insurance and gas. Deliveries usually arrive within 30 minutes to one hour from the time the order is placed, but conditions such as weather, traffic, and how busy the restaurant is could increase that time.

Mr Leandra sees Vroom as a service to both area residents and businesses. “We help grow business for area restaurants, and provide much-needed income for our customer service reps, drivers, and dispatchers. Our staff has grown to upwards of 24 people and we are still looking for more and more help as we expand throughout Fairfield County and more,” said Mr Leandra.

Restaurant partners cite advantages of joining the Vroom family that include reducing expense and liability costs associated with hiring drivers, and freeing up staff to focus on food production.

John Tambascio, of My Place on Queen Street and Tambascio’s Italian Grill in Dodgingtown, said his restaurants have always offered delivery service, but the appeal of becoming one of Vroom Service Now’s charter partners was giving his valued customers even better service than was already offered. “Now we can get our food to our customers all over town faster,” Mr Tambascio said. “In a town this size, we wanted to provide the best delivery services possible.”

“Vroom is a great opportunity for people who want to eat quality food, but don’t have the time to stop by themselves to pick up a take out order,” said Angelo Marini, owner of Sal e Pepe Contemporary Italian Bistro on South Main Street. “We don’t have the staff to do deliveries ourselves,” he added, “so by partnering with Vroom Service Now, this gives our customers another option.”

Vroom Service Now is pleased to provide offsite catering, and organizes food donations and deliveries for fundraisers, such as the upcoming “Uncork A Cure” to benefit the Tommy Fund For Childhood Cancer, a wine and beer tasting and restaurant sampling to be held at Shakespeare’s Gardens in Brookfield, on September 18.

 The company was founded locally by Mr Leandra, his partner Pete Powers, and another good friend, George Nault, who passed away just a few weeks after Vroom Service Now began its operations.
