Following months of temporary closure due to COVID-19, EverWonder Children’s Museum is planning to reopen.

The 31 Pecks Lane museum will open for members on Tuesday, September 8, and the general public on Tuesday, September 15. Advance registration will be required for all visitors.

Museum Executive Director Merredith Christos said via e-mail on August 28 that she has “missed the daily laughter heard throughout the museum. We all have.”

The museum plans a timed ticketing experience, and will be following State of Connecticut and CDC guidelines for safety.

“While closed,” her note continues, “we have been busy creating free science content on our new blog, posting videos of your favorite reptiles playing at the museum, working on creating a space where everyone feels comfortable and safe, and building new programs, such as our Little Wonders starting soon.”

Museum staff has also been designing a new, family-friendly fundraiser. “The Science of (mini) Golf” will help families and the community share in their love for EverWonder, Christos noted.

The special event is planned for Saturday, October 10, 1-8 pm. Guests of all ages will play mini golf within the museum, and enjoy treats from breweries and food trucks, an online auction, and more. Additional information TBA.

Stop & Shop Community Bag Fundraiser

EverWonder will be the next local organization to benefit from the Stop & Shop Community Bag program.

In September, each purchase of a reusable $2.50 bag at the Stop & Shop in Sand Hill Plaza will result in a $1 donation to EverWonder museum.

Local groups that have already benefitted from the program include C.H. Booth Library, Newtown Community Center, and Sandy Hook Volunteer Fire & Rescue Company.
