LITCHFIELD – The world-famous Herrmann’s Royal Lipizzan Stallions of Austria, under the direction of Col. Ottomar Herrmann, began performing at the Litchfield Hills Equestrian Centre in Litchfield this week with appearances September 7, 8 and 9.

The rare and beautiful stallions date back to the 16th century when the breed was developed in Austria. Their heroic rescue during World War II by General George S. Patton was depicted in the Disney movie, Miracle of the White Stallions.

During the 90-minute performance, the audience is treated to a brief history of the breed, some examples of the famous “airs above the ground” and intricate drill maneuvers. All performances are held in an indoor arena.

The Friday performance is at 7 pm and the Saturday performance is at 2 pm.

For further information, call the Litchfield Hills Equestrian Centre at 1-860-567-1441.
