A two-truck crash on I-84 West in Newtown, around 8 am, September 1, snarled traffic for hours on the interstate and through much of the center of town. Connecticut State Police, Hook & Ladder firefighters, the Newtown Volunteer Ambulance Corps, a paramedic, state DOT and DEEP crews, and at least one wrecker responded to just east of Parmalee Hill Road after one tanker hit the guardrail and a second tractor-trailer jack-knifed. Responders reported that fluids leaked from at least one of the vehicles. Both drivers were checked for injuries, but neither required further medical attention. The crash slowed traffic to a crawl for hours, with delays quickly extending to Exit 14 in Southbury. No additional information was available at press time, Thursday, September 2. —Bee Photo, Hicks
