Our beloved wife, mother, and nonni, Alida B. Shea, passed away with her husband by her side on September 2, after a very courageous and difficult battle with cancer.

Alida was the daughter of George and Diana Bonvini and grew up in Fairfield, Conn. She graduated from Andrew Ward High School and Bridgeport Hospital School of Nursing. As a registered nurse, she worked in the main operating room at Bridgeport Hospital for 30 years. Her true passion as a nurse was to support and lift up the many surgeons, other nurses, and surgical technicians, and to offer a loving ear and words of compassion to put patients and their families at ease. Later in her career, she became a clinical coordinator, where she performed a leadership role in many of the surgical services. She was known as “Mom” by many of the OR staff.

Alida was a longtime resident of Newtown, where she and her husband, Vincent, raised their three children. She cherished her family, loved to dance, and enjoyed flower arranging and watching old movies. Alida lit up the room and was a beautiful person, inside and out. She will be remembered for her concern for others in their time of need and her devoted caring for her special needs son, Vincent III (VJ).

She is survived by her husband, Vincent Shea, Jr; her son, Vincent III; her daughter, Jaclyn, and her husband, Bryan Rudderow; her son, Adam; her beloved grandson, William Rudderow; and sisters Georgette Pappas and her husband, Demetrios, and Adrianne DiCaro and her husband, Salvatore.

She was predeceased by her parents, George and Diana Bonvini.

Family and friends are invited to visiting hours starting at 10 am and a memorial service at 1 pm on Friday, September 10, at Spadaccino & Leo P. Gallagher & Son Community Funeral Home, 315 Monroe Turnpike, Monroe.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation by check to Transition CT, 169 Monroe Turnpike, Monroe CT 06468, where an Alida Shea Memorial Fund has been established.
