Faxon Law New Haven Road Race By The Numbers

The Faxon Law New Haven Road Race events — made possible by title sponsor Faxon Law Group, for which Newtown’s Joel Faxon is a partner — took place on Labor Day, September 5. This included a half marathon, half marathon relay, 5K, Town Fair Tire kids fun run, and the 20K USATF National Championship. For complete results, visit newhavenroadrace.org.

From 0 to 40,550, there are more than 50 number-based factoids that tie in with the longstanding event, according to a Faxon Law New Haven Road Race press release, including:

*0: Cost for New Haven children to enter the Town Fair Tire Kids Fun Run and cost for all activities in the ACES Kids Zone.

*8: Runners who have competed in every New Haven 20K or Half Marathon; Bib number of WTNH meteorologist Gil Simmons running the 5K.

*9: Water stations on the race courses.

*14: Bands along race courses and in finish area.

*19: Years Faxon Law Group has been the event’s title sponsor.

*32: Years served as 20K National Championship (longest running US National Championship).

*45: Years race has been in existence.

*49: Percent of female participants (30 years ago it was only 30% female).

*51: Percent of male participants.

*86: Portable toilets on the New Haven Green on race day.

*850: Cups of yogurt served after the race.

*1,000: Gallons of water served after the race.

*1,600: Bananas served after the race.

*4,000: Hot dogs served after the race by Park New Haven.

*7,000: Race T-shirts.

*9,000: Money won by first male and female 20K finishers.

*36,000: Biodegradable water cups used at race.

*40,550: Prize purse awarded to top 20K finishers.
