To the Editor:

Well, we did it again, and thank you to all those who attended our fourth Sunset Wine Tasting event. We were thrilled to have the turnout we did, and the weather was just perfect for the occasion.

On behalf of the Newtown Forest Association’s board of directors, we would like to take the time to recognize and thank Dr Aaron Coopersmith for organizing and running The NFA Sunset Wine Tasting last weekend. This event was made possible by the dedicated teamwork of the many volunteers that Aaron so professionally organized and managed. We received many compliments on how wonderfully special this event has become, and under his direction, it was another success.

Over 200 people attended the event at our Holcombe Hill Preserve. Everyone was able to enjoy the great scenic views with a sweet band of smooth jazz, wonderful food, amazing wines, and some specialty brewed beer. Being the highest point in Newtown and overlooking the meadows and forest, it’s the home of the Newtown Forest Association Headquarters. It’s always been the perfect spot for this event to take place.

This event highlights the synergy of our efforts and our community’s strong support for the protection and conservation of open space here in Newtown. We have welcomed some new members at this event, and the money we raised will be used to help fund ongoing stewardship for the 1,356 acres of open space representing 100 parcels and 56 preserves that the NFA currently protects.

We look forward to seeing everyone again for next year’s event and sharing a collective passion for conserving these wild places. We invite you to go to newtownforestassociation.org to find out more about our organization and visit a preserve near you to enjoy a simple walk in the woods.
