To The Editor:

I'm writing to introduce myself to the neighbors I hope to represent and to explain why I’m running for State Representative in the 107th District of Newtown.

I've called the 107th district my home for 35 years. My children grew up here, went through public schools, and attended CT State universities. For the past decade, I've served on Brookfield's Board of Assessment Appeals, for most years as its chairperson. This work has taught me to listen carefully, weigh evidence fairly, and make decisions that put residents, not politics, first. It's the same approach I intend to bring to the Statehouse.

I spent years as a Human Resource and Benefits Administrator, so I understand healthcare costs and challenges. I worked as a behavior therapist throughout Fairfield County, including Newtown, providing therapy to children with special needs in their homes and schools, work that required patience and a deep commitment to families. Additionally, I managed a nonprofit, The Lord's Pantry, supporting people living with HIV/AIDS and their children, where I was responsible for a $600,000 budget built on grants, donations, endowments, and community support. As a licensed realtor, I've walked alongside families through often their biggest financial decision, giving me a real understanding of how housing costs and property taxes affect everyday life here.

Our district deserves a representative who will protect and fully fund our public schools, expand access to healthcare, and bring back civility and accountability in government. We need people willing to listen first, do the careful work, and treat our neighbors with respect.
