To the Editor:

We met Alison several years ago through our young son who had become ‘best buddies’ with her oldest child in daycare. Alison made all of the initial inroads, introducing herself, setting up play dates, and just being so welcoming to our family who had just moved to Newtown a few months prior.

Immediately, we noted her intelligence, drive, and enthusiasm — not too long after, we knew we had made friends for life with her and her family.

Alison brings a quiet confidence and a wealth of real world experience, as a mother and successful career woman, to the dialogue. She and her husband understand firsthand all of the highs and lows of running a small business. Her career background in corporate strategy and transformation at a dynamic, world leading firm provides Newtown with an incalculable resource.

Raising a young family in Newtown, Alison understands what is important and what sets our town apart from so many others: the school system, quality and pace of life. Alison will be a valuable voice to hear from as development continues at Fairfield Hills and other parts of town. As we move forward to meet the challenges that inevitably arise, she will always keep the families of Newtown in mind.

This has been a year of many firsts for both of our families — first graduation, navigating our way through kindergarten, bus rides, joining rec soccer leagues among a myriad of other beginnings and endings.

We wholeheartedly wish that we get to see another first, Alison Plante elected to the Legislative Council (D3).

Thank you.
