Workshops Announced By HealingNewtown

The following workshops have been scheduled by HealingNewtown.

All workshops are free and are at Newtown Congregational Church, 14 West Street. Visit HealingNewtown.org and click on Schedule to reserve space.

Weaving Workshop with Hanna Roehrs for adults is Mondays, October 7 and 28, from 6 to 9 pm. This is a new time for the fall season.

An introduction to weaving for beginners, instruction in advanced weaving techniques for more experienced weavers is also available.

Beginning weavers will learn to prepare a warp, dress the loom, and complete a sampler project. Experienced weavers will receive help designing and completing their own projects in different weave structures. Work is done on a four-harness table loom.

After introduction students can make their first piece, usually a scarf. Student are welcome to bring their own yarn or use supplies available.

The Joy of Art with Joy Hoffman will be offered Wednesdays, October 2 and 9. Ms Hoffman’s workshop times have also been updated for the autumn season.

Pre-K and kindergarten students will meet from 2 to 3 pm, and kindergarten and continuing students will meet from 4 to 5 pm. Children will enjoy a chance to express their artistic talents freely while being guided through friendship bead making bracelets and necklaces, paper plate bugs and other fun and lively arts and crafts projects.

A new workshop, Chill & Spill, will be offered on Sunday, October 6, from 2 to 4 pm.

Presented by Art With Heart and geared for tweens and teens, participants will be encouraged to express what is in their heart through art. Pizza will be served.
