Marcus W. Schulz, of Newtown, passed away on Friday, August 20, at the age of 68.

Marcus was born on April 8, 1953, in New York, son of the late Werner and Ruth Schulz. He was a graduate from Newtown High School (Class of 1971) and graduate of Naugatuck Valley Community College.

He is survived by his brother, Eric Schulz; his sister, Susan Schulz, his children, Leah Frank and Marcus T. Schulz; and his grandchildren, John and Jessi Frank.

A well-traveled man, he was always willing to help or listen. He was an engineer and a builder. He looked at the world as a series of things that could be done and accomplished or improved. He was a self-made man, who gave everything he could to everyone around him. He would be the first one to show up and the last to leave if you ever needed him, no matter who you were. He would teach you everything he knew, if you wanted to know how to do it, with patience and would never make you feel stupid for the asking. He wanted you to succeed.

He was a beloved soul and will be sorely missed.

Feel free to pay your respects in your own way.

This kindhearted soul will truly be missed by the many dear friends that he acquainted himself with. I for one knew Marcus pretty well as many years of friendship and enjoyed listening to his many stories of wisdom. Marcus and I had a unique friendship as we both belonged to a unique program of fellowship and aided each other for many years to stay on track and do the “next right thing” and seek to live life on life’s terms.

As I live my life, I often meet individuals whom I call “Good People” and it’s not easy to make my personal list. It wasn’t long before Marcus made my Good-People list and that made him a special person to me. Someone that I could count on and never wanted anything but the best for me. Always ready to give his assistance and offer a helping hand.

Now, this guy could talk my ears off at times and I had to learn to gracefully make up a excuse to leave or gotta go bud was my way of escaping because he sure could talk. Many stories of his blazing down the roads in his classic cars and the ability to crash and walk away. One tough SOB I guess. I miss you Marcus and you will always have a special place in my heart. You were a great man in many ways and will be missed.
