Girls’ Soccer Team Piles Up Goals In Home Win Over Bunnell

Newtown High School’s girls’ soccer team scored early and often en route to a 7-1 triumph over visiting Bunnell of Stratford, at Blue & Gold Stadium, on September 16.

Riley Powers and Sydney Oltran both had two goals and an assist, Ella Morits had a goal and an assist, and Skyler Howard and Hannah Stowe both hit the net.

At the other end of the field, Newtown goalkeeper Ryann Heim-Sherwood had three saves.

The Nighthawks went to Weston and earned a 1-1 tie on September 20. Powers was credited with a goal on a corner kick when Weston failed to clear the ball and it ended up in its own net. Heim-Sherwood made six saves.
