The two-day Newtown Tennis Association (NTA) Newtown Open took place on the courts at Newtown High School and Treadwell Park during the weekend of September 17 and 18. This year’s event drew 120 participants, organizer Haby Farah said. Champions were crowned in several categories among men’s and women’s singles, as well as doubles, and mixed doubles participants.

Farah was pleased with the participation and appreciative of the sponsors who helped make the event a success once again. Sponsors are ASC Advanced Specialty Care PC, Cover Two Sports Cafe, and Reverie Brewing Company.

Fall-time tennis tournament action is not over just yet. The NTA’s Newtown Junior Classic will take place Saturday, October 1 and Sunday, October 2, at Treadwell Park. Divisions are offered for U10, U12, U14, and U18 girls and boys. Cost is $20 per player. Tournament Director is Brett Teolis. Visit newtowntennisassociation.com to register.
