Katherine James Martens, 78, recently from Newtown and previously from Riverdale, N.Y., died September 22. She was born August 6, 1932, in Manhattan.

She was the beloved mother of George S. Martens and Irene Caulfield of Newtown; and grandmother to five.

Ms Martens taught for ten years at the New York School for the Deaf in White Plains, and was the author of two books, including Quantum Leap, a survival guide for the 21st Century, highlighting spiritual evolution.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, October 2, at 11 am, at Fifth Avenue Presbyterian Church in New York City.
