Brownie Plant Program Offered At Kellogg Environmental Center

DERBY — The Kellogg Environmental Center announces Brownie Try It Day, Saturday, October 14, from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm. Brownies and their leaders will be able to attend a program just for them, focused on the Plant Try-It patch. Each girl will be able to explore the variety of plants of the area and learn about their characteristics, uniqueness, and uses. Activities include walks, arts projects, scavenger hunts, and microscopic studies.

Each girl will make her own plant study journal and a take home project, in addition to receiving her Plant Patch. Troops and individual scouts may register. Deadline for registration is October 10. Fee for the program is $3 per girl.

To register, please call 203/734-2513 between 9 am and 4:30 pm, Tuesday through Saturday. The Kellogg Environmental Center, operated by DEP’s Office of Communications and Education, is located at 500 Hawthorne Avenue, Derby, CT.
