Bikes, Boards And Blades Day

Newtown Youth Services will hold its annual Family Bikes, Boards, and Blades Day on Sunday, October 10, from noon to 3 pm. The rain date is October 17.

Check-in, from noon to 2 pm, will take place at Fairfield Hills near the former library parking lot. There are four different bike routes, from beginner to advanced, with an area for rollerblading and skateboarding. There will be free food stops along the course.

The registration is $7 for persons over 13 and $5 for youths 13 and under. All participants will receive a prize. In addition there will be a raffle with tickets $1 each or seven for $5. Prizes include a mountain bike donated by Cycle Fitness of Monroe.

State law requires that all youths under the age of 16 must wear bike helmets. For safety, NYS requires all participants up to age 18 to wear bike/skate helmets.

For more information call Newtown Youth Services at 270-4335. NYS is a non-profit youth service bureau located at 41A Main Street.
