Samir Asaad Tadros

Samir Asaad Tadros, 75, of Newtown, died peacefully in the loving presence of his family, at Danbury Hospital, September 20. He was born August 10, 1937, in Cairo, Egypt.

At age 17, Mr Tadros traveled to Germany to study mechanical engineering and begin his lifelong career in the commercial and industrial laundry industry where, over the next 40 years, he would not only build the two largest equipment manufactures in the world and introduce ideas and innovations that would change the industry forever, but also provide work and opportunities for thousands of people. Through his work at the Passat and Lavatec companies, and through his charm and caring demeanor, he built countless close relationships throughout the world that would last until the end of his days.

On January 25, 1974, Mr Tadros was joined into a partnership with the person that would accompany him for the rest of his life, his wife Elisabeth (Gloeckner). Together, they raised two children, Michael and Mona. In January 1982, the family moved to Newtown.

After his family and his work, Mr Tadros’s third passion was the sea from which we come and to which his earthly remains shall be returned. His fortunate life granted him and his family the opportunity to join together and explore many of the world’s oceans and ports of call.

Whether as the captain of his family, business, or ship, he never digressed from his driving principles of love, loyalty, and fairness, which remain as a shining example to all who knew him. Family and friends will profoundly miss him.

His boundless love and cherished memory live on in the hearts of his beloved wife, children, and sister, Samia, as well as countless extended family members. His parents, Asaad and Mounira Tadros, predeceased him.

In remembrance of his life, private family services will be held at a later date in Newtown.

Condolences may be sent to 17 Poverty Hollow Road, Newtown CT 06470.

The Honan Funeral Home of Newtown is serving the family.
