Weir Farm Master Teacher To Lead SCAN Program
The Society of Creative Arts of Newtown (SCAN) will have Dmitri Wright painting in oil at its next meeting,ÃÂ on Wednesday, October 12, at 7:30 pm. His subject will be a landscape.
The programÃÂ will take place in the lower level of Newtown Meeting House, 31 Main Street (at theÃÂ flagpole). All are welcome, free of charge.
Dmitri Wright is an American Impressionists-style painter. He received The Max Beckman International Scholar Award at Brooklyn Museum Art School, studying under Rueben Tam. At Cooper Union he studied under Wolf Kahn and Will Barnet.
An American artist, Mr Wright's travels have taken him to paint and/or teach in Italy, France, Ireland, Austria, England, West Indies, Central and South America, and throughout the United States visiting over a dozen National Parks sites. His work focuses on the preservation and progress of Impressionism.
Mr Wright is the master artist and instructor for Weir Farm National Historic Site in Wilton,ÃÂ a National Park dedicated to American Impressionism.ÃÂ In addition, he is the first artist-in-residence instructing and lecturing at Greenwich Historical Society, the birthplace of American Impressionism.
He teaches at Silvermine Art School and also privately.
MrÃÂ Wright's work is housed in hundreds of American and international collections, museums, corporate and private.
