Trips being offered this fall include the Radio City Christmas show on Thursday, December 8, and Berkshire Railroad, The Foliage Express, Meadowlands Flea Market, Macy’s Balloons and a new musical, Wicked. For further information go to our web site or stop by and pick up a brochure.

The 18th annual Kite Contest will be held on October 2 at 12 noon at Ram’s Pasture. Come fly your kite.

Halloween parties for little ghosts, goblins and witches up to eight years old will be held on October 27, 4 to 5 pm, at the Dickinson Park pavilion. And also Halloween parties for Grades 5 and 6 will be held on Friday, October 14, at the Newtown Teen Center and for Grades 7 and 8 will be held on Friday, October 28, at the Newtown Teen Center. Tickets are on sale now for $7 per child.

The 13th annual Thanksgiving Turkey Shoot will be held on Saturday, November 19. Win a turkey just in time for Thanksgiving. The fee is $10 per team (a team consists of an adult and child).

And let’s not forget Breakfast with Santa on December 10 at 9 am in the Newtown Middle School cafeteria.

A must for all families: a Family Safety Course will be held on Saturday, October 9, 10 am to 11 am, at the Reed Intermediate School cafetorium. The fee is $30 per family. This program is dedicated to promoting safety and self defense by non-violent means. The class will be run by James Cobb of Aikibudokan of CT.

Parks and Recreation is looking for any donation of field hockey equipment such as balls, sticks, shin guards or goalie equipment. You can drop items off at the Parks and Recreation office between 8 am to 4:30 pm Monday through Friday.

Please note that Kidsfit Gymnastics classes are being held on Tuesdays (not Thursdays) and Fridays, 12:30 and 1:30, for children ages 3 to 6 years old.
