Abraham

David “Debby” Abraham, 89, of Danbury, husband of Alice (Bianchi) Abraham, died on October 5 at Danbury Hospital.

He is survived by a daughter, Deborah A. Modzelewski and her husband, John, of Newtown.

Mr Abraham was born in Lebanon, February 9, 1912, a son of the late William and Barbara (Shebanie) Abraham.

He immigrated to this country from Lebanon as an infant, first settling in Dutchess Junction, N.Y. In later years, as an adult, he moved to Danbury and has resided there ever since.

A World War II US Army veteran, Mr Abraham was a retired local businessman. He was a member of the Lebanon American Club, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the American Legion, the Catholic War Veterans, and St Ann’s Melkite Catholic Church, all of Danbury.

Mr Abraham was a member of the “Morning Coffee Club” at the Danbury Fair Mall, and enjoyed music, photography, video, and gardening. His greatest love was his family and friends.

In addition to his spouse of 55 years and daughter and son-in-law, he is survived by three two other adoring daughters, RoseMarie Davio and her husband, Gene, of Pittsford, N.Y., and Carolyn L. Damici and her husband, Richard, of Danbury; a sister, Mabel Chowanec of Danbury; eight grandchildren, Amy, Tracy, Michael, Stephanie, John, David, Jared and Allison; and two great- grandchildren, Alexandra and Ryan David. A sister, Sarah Nowak and two brothers, George Abraham and Nicholas Abraham, predeceased him.

The Rite of Burial took place on October 10 in St Ann’s Melkite Church, 181 Clapboard Ridge Road, (Route 39), Danbury, with the Rev Basil R.A. Parent, officiating.

Burial followed in St Peter Cemetery with full military honors.

The Jowdy-Kane Funeral Home, 9-11 Granville Avenue, Danbury, was in charge of arrangements.

Contributions in Mr Abraham’s memory may be made to St Ann’s Church.
