NHS Football Team Beaten By Greenwich

Newtown High School's football team heads into its bye week coming off a 24-0 loss at Greenwich on October 3. The Nighthawks are 1-3 and will be off until a Friday, October 16 home game against Notre Dame Prep of Fairfield (4-0); kickoff is at 6:30 pm. Greenwich (4-0) earned its third shutout of the season; the defending Class LL State Champions have allowed seven points thus far this fall.

The teams were scoreless through one quarter of play; the Cardinals scored a pair of second-quarter rushing touchdowns for a 14-0 halftime lead and added a field goal and TD in the third quarter.

Nighthawk quarterback Jack Colonel completed 20 of 40 pass attempts for 128 yards and one interception. Cam Kullgren led Hawk receivers with seven catches totaling 44 yards. Newtown was limited to 32 yards on 27 rushes.

Caden Cuomo and Graham Spencer each had six solo tackles and assisted on two others, Liam McGovern had five tackles, Nick Stockwell four tackles, Drilon Lena and Andrew Moran both had three tackles, and Aidan Calle and Sean Caron both had a pair of tackles, with Caron assisting on another.
