Jean B. Otton of Sandy Hook passed away peacefully on Oct 5, 2023 after a courageous battle with leukemia.

She was a longtime parishioner of St Rose of Lima Church and worked in the church office for more than 40 years. For many years, Jean sang in the church choir and volunteered at the Dorothy Day Soup Kitchen in Danbury.

A kind and generous woman who was always independent, Jean loved her family and her job, where she worked up until the final three weeks of her life.

Jean was born in Brooklyn N.Y. on Nov 8, 1931 to the late Harry and Helen Obre.

She was predeceased by her husband Gerard and her siblings Ruth and Jack. She leaves behind five children, Tom, Lynn, Ken, Doug and Dan and their spouses. She was beloved by her six grandchildren, Heidi, Becky, Jimmy, Tom, Trina and Dayne and her six great grandchildren, Tommy, Evie, Vivian, Vera, Braylon and Jaxson.

Jean was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Oct 12th at 11:30 am at St Rose of Lima Church in Newtown. Interment will follow in St Rose Cemetery. Per Jean’s request, there are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Regional Hospice in Danbury or Praxair Cancer Center at Danbury Hospital.
