Avance Day Spa and AIR Gallery will host their first Boo Fest on Sunday, October 20, from 2 to 5 pm, to benefit Kevin’s Community Center (KCC) of Newtown.

All ages are welcome. The spa is handicapped friendly. Guests can expect surprises and delights and perhaps a few frights.

Complimentary masks for the costume-shy and a bounty of Halloween treats will be offered.

KCC was founded in 2002 by Dr and Mrs Z. Michael Taweh in memory of their son, Kevin. The clinic provides free medical care for Newtown residents, now approaching $5 million. The clinic’s new home is at 25 Commerce Road.

In this their 17th year, the Halloween Boo Boxes are chock full of imagination and fun. Each Box is unique in design, hand-crafted and filled with novelties, treats, and candy. Customized for children and adults, a smile comes with each box.

New items to the Boo Village are Halloween Trees with lights and variety of gift items replete with confections. All proceeds of Boo Boxes and Boo Village sales to benefit Kevin’s Community Center.

The current “For the Love of Art” exhibit offers a diverse collection of paintings from petite seascapes to botanicals; landscapes; abstracts; proud equine, figurative; and a special appearance of the king of the jungle, the Lion, and his friend. Presented in oils, watercolor, pen and ink, acrylics, monotype and wire sculpture, the exhibition offers approachable prices for art lovers, says curator Rosemary Rau.

Participating artists are Lorraine Agri, Cynthia Arieta, Joannne Conant, Renee Cotter, Jeanne Eleck, Ron Kopreski, Aline Lapointe, Ingrid McCullough, and Michelle Rosenthal.

This show also marks the debut of two new artists, Lorraine Agri of Plymouth, Mass., and Cynthia Arieta of Auburn, N.H.

During its four-month run, the show will be refreshed with new pieces as exhibit space becomes available. The exhibit will remain on view until January 31.

Avance Day Spa/AIR Gallery is within The Village at Lexington Gardens, 32 Church Hill Road. Spa and gallery hours are Tuesday, 11 am to 8 pm; Wednesday, 10 am to 6 pm; Thursday, 11 am to 8 pm; Friday, 9 am to 6 pm; and Saturday, 9 am to 5 pm.
